Heart failure Defined

A condition which occurs when the heart's pumping power is less than normal. The weakened heart cannot pump enough blood to meet all of the body's need for oxygen and nutrients. The condition also creates more difficulty for other organs to carry away excess fluids and waste. Heart failure is a chronic condition which, for most patients, can be treated and managed, but not cured.
